My boys had an absolute blast tonight walking around the neighborhood with friends “trick-or-treating”. They took a few pieces early on just for fun, but just left them in their treat bags and then just enjoyed the night. When we got home, we looked over the candy to see if there was anything they could eat. They each got a packet of raisins and were totally fine with that.
For everyone who says if you deny your kids junk, they’ll revolt… it just isn’t true. My kids were excited to dress up, walk around the neighborhood at dusk, see friends, and play with their glow sticks. The candy that passed right under their noses was not an issue. It doesn’t have to be all about the candy.
